Jay Brijpaul - President
Originally from Crabwood Creek in Guyana, has a BSc. in Chemisty. He moved to Canada in 1983 and worked as a factory worker at Lever Brothers until 1990. He pursued his real estate licence and bagan selling real estate part time in 1998. Today, he is one of Remax Canada's top agents, a Re/max Hall of Fame inductee, winner of the lifetime achievement award and most recently inducted into the Circle of Legends. Known as The Brij, he is one of the founding members of TCCF. Through his vision, commitment and leadership, TCCF has grown to become a recognised charity.
Jankie Dolaram - Vice President
She currently holds as a management position in a prominent insurance firm in Toronto. For the past 20-years she has been a tireless community volunteer. In 1997, she was presented with a long service award by the Gaitri Mandir. Since the TCCF’s founding she has been actively fund raising and was appointed to her current position in 2008.Her key responsibility is to liaise with the Hospitals and assist with overall coordination of fundraising events.
Kumar Singh - Secretary
An Advocate for Equity, Human Rights and Social Justice, he served as CEO/Executive Director of the Office of the Ontario Employment Equity Commission. After retiring from the Public Service, he volunteered with a number of organizations in Toronto. He is the current Vice President for the Guyana Christian Charities Canada Inc. and in 2002 as co-ordinator, he was instrumental in launching the first ever Annual Summer Boat Cruise.
Ilene Chetram - Assistant Secretary
She currently hold a management position in one of Canada's fastest growing retail establishments. In keeping with her passion for giving back to the community, she has been a tireless volunteer at carious elementary schools within the Peel District School Board and Woodhall Park Retirement Village. Six years ago, she joined the TCCF and now is the coordinator of the Caribbean Flava Summer Lime.
Harry Bridgemohan - Treasurer
Harry is a self-employed Accountant and small business advisor. He worked in professional auditing in Guyana and Barbados after studying at the University of Guyana - and Accountancy in London,UK. Susequently, he worked in various financial positions with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in Rome, Italy and in the FAO SubRegional Office for the Caribbean in Bridgetown, Barbados. Harry also volunteers with several other charities in Brampton – and ( during the season ) is a marshall on weekends at Parkshore Golf Club.
Roger Ho Singh - Assistant Treasurer
In 1989, he immigrated to Canada from the twin islands of Trinidad & Tobago. For the past twenty years, he has been a Branch Manager of a Major Canadian Financial Institution. Since the TCCF's founding he has held this position and is responsible for all banking matters.
Raynier Maharaj - Public Relations
Raynier Maharaj has been a practicing journalist for the last 28 years. He is the founding editor of The Caribbean Camera newspaper and has been part of the founding teams of several other newspapers in his native Trinidad, including the best-selling daily, Newsday. Raynier was also a columnist with the Toronto Sun from 1993-1997. He is one of the founding members of TCCF and is the charity's Public Relations Officer.
Dr. Krishna Brijpaul - Director
During his academic career he lectured at the University of Guyana and the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine, Trinidad. Until his retirement in Canada, he taught at the Secondary School level with the Peel District School Board. He is a Founding Director, the first Secretary and was also charged with the responsibility of preparing the TCCF constitution. His current responsibilities include international fundraising.
Elbert (Doodie) Ross - Director
Now retired after serving as a Toronto Police Officer for 28 years. He currently operates Ross Legal Services and is an active member of the Hindu community having served as president of the Arya Samaj/Vedic Cultural Centre. He serves on the board of several charitable and community organizations. He is the co-ordinator of the Annual Summer Boat Cruise, launched in 2002.
Vickram Ramsamujh - Director
He is a successful businessman, with a strong upbringing in giving back to the community and is a founding member of the TCCF and the Prabhu Sharon Orphanage in Guyana, his native country. Other volunteer, commitments include his role of Vice-President of the Peel Arya Samaj. Known as Vic, he lives by the quote "You must be the change you wish to see in the world"- Mahatma Gandhi.
